Mobile Data

Imass believes that a full end-to-end solution for the Fire Sector comprises of two main parts:

The Mobile Data Communications System enables efficient two-way communication between Fire Control and appliances.  This comprises:

  • The in-vehicle Mobile Data Communications Interface, which provides an intuitive user interface and enables efficient and effective two way Mobile Data Communications with Fire Control, so releasing voice communications capacity for when it is really needed; the Mobile Data Terminal and radio hardware.

  • The communications bearer infrastructure.

  • The Mobile Data Communications Gateway that integrates between your chosen infrastructure and the Brigade's chosen Command and Control System.

The Operational Information System, also known as a Hazard Management System or Risk Management System.  This comprises:

  • The in-vehicle Operational Information System, which provides simple intuitive access to a wide range of Operational Information, including Brigade-wide mapping, tactical plans, procedures, Chemdata, gazetteer and other access facilities and a range of other support functionality including routing via the Mobile Data Terminal hardware.

  • The Brigade Wide Area Network and Local Area Network infrastructure and an Automatic Information Update System, which provides flexible and efficient data distribution facilities.

  • A Central Management System, which provides back office efficient and effective data management facilities and any feeder systems such as a Hydrant Management System.

The Imass Vehicle Mounted Data System (VMDS) is made up of the mobile elements of each of these two main systems, together with the Imass Automatic Vehicle Location System (AVLS), routing and vehicle telemetry elements.  AVLS feeds both main systems to show Fire Control and the crew the location of resources in real time.

Imass supplies many parts of the full Mobile Data solution.  However, Imass does not supply directly the communications infrastructure, radio hardware or any modification to Brigade's Fire Control systems required to make them Mobile Data ready.  Imass works with the suppliers of these elements to produce an end-to-end solution either in the role of Prime Contractor or sub-contractor, depending upon the clients preference.

Also, parts of the Imass solution may be produced to provide a partial solution that may progressively be integrated into a complete solution over time.

The Imass Mobile Data solution offers Brigades a step change in how they respond to, manage and analyse incidents.  Mobile Data can help revolutionise the way you deliver communications and information to Operational Personnel.  This can help to improve the Brigade's Health and Safety, effectiveness and efficiency, whilst also ensuring that incident data collated during operations is of a high quality to support Community Fire Safety.
